The NWP networking session during the NAP Expo offered the opportunity to hear from NWP partners and non-partners alike on how they could engage in implementing the new mandates under the NWP, particularly in support of NAPs.

 Addressing the impacts of climate change on health
New activities under the NWP include a call for submissions to Parties, NWP partners and relevant organizations (due 29 August 2016), the organization of the 10th Focal Point Forum on health (during COP 22 in Marrakech), and the preparation of a synthesis report (due in May 2017).

30th meeting of the LEG
From 7-10 September, the Least Developed Countries Expert Group (LEG) will discuss the progress of its two year rolling work programme, including its support in the implementation of the Paris Agreement, the technical guidance and support on national adaptation plans, as well as its continuing engagement with the Green Climate Fund.

Upcoming meeting of the AC
From 13-16 September, the Adaptation Committee (AC) meeting will focus on furthering work on the Paris outcome, the provision of technical support and guidance on adaptation action, as well as awareness-raising, outreach and information-sharing activities. Observers are welcome throughout the event, which will also be webcast.

Respond to the joint call for submissions of the AC and the LEG

AC-LEG joint event at COP 22A joint in-session event will be held during COP 22 to showcase the interim results achieved by the two bodies in the implementation of their joint mandates from the Paris Agreement. The meeting will also provide the opportunity to receive further input from Parties and non-Party stakeholders.

Fourth meeting of the Excom
From 19-23 September, the Executive Committee of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage (Excom) will continue advancing the implementation of its initial two-year workplan and further its work on the Paris mandates. The Excom will also consider the outcomes of the technical meeting
on migration, displacement and human mobility, held on 27-29 July in Casablanca, and the 2016 SCF Forum on Financial Instruments that Address the Risks of Loss and Damage, to be held on 5-6 September in Manila.

Opportunities for organizations to participate in UNFCCC meetings
To have delegates attend a UNFCCC session or meeting (e.g., under the AC, Excom or LEG), organizations need to be admitted as observers by the Conference of Parties of the UNFCCC. Observers also have the opportunity to apply for a side event or an exhibit at sessions and join one of the Constituency networks. Applications for admission can be completed online>>>

Institut de Recherche pour le Developpement
The Institut de Recherche pour le Developpement (IRD) contributes to the social, economic and cultural development of the South through research, training, and innovation. The IRD focuses on development in Africa, the Mediterranean, Latin America, Asia and the tropical French overseas. Recent work has included malaria transmission in Burkina Faso.

Central Asia Mountain Hub/Mountain Partnership hosted by the University of Central Asia
As the regional node for Mountain Partnership, the Hub works on grounding the sustainable development concept into the context of mountainous Central Asia. The Hub has established the Climate Change dialogue platform, a multi-stakeholder consultation platform for a more inclusive and transparent governance on climate issues in the region.

Abt Associates
Abt Associates works to improve the quality of life and economic well-being of people, especially while aligning success with environmental responsibility. Recent work on the Zika virus and other diseases contributes to climate adaptation in the human health sector. Abt Associates is also supporting efforts to determine metrics for evaluating the impact of natural infrastructure along coastlines.

UN-SPIDER
UN-SPIDER gives access to all countries and international and regional organizations to use all types of space-based information to support the disaster management cycle. UN-SPIDER applies space technology to disaster risk management, including risks to local communities due to natural hazards that have been intensified by climate change.
