The NWP synthesis report  addresses the major role of healthy ecosystems in the climate-resilience of society, opportunities offered by ecosystem-based adaptation in national adaptation plans, as well as  monitoring and evaluation tools.      
 
5 ways initiatives on human settlements can support climate-resilience

The NWP summary report provides brief descriptions of ongoing global and regional initiatives that support national and sub-national governments in planning and implementing actions for adaptation or climate-resilience in human settlements.

What will governments consider in the upcoming climate negotiations under the NWP?

At SBSTA 46, governments will consider progress and how to further support action on adaptation under the NWP in the thematic areas of health, ecosystems and water resources, and human settlements. Governments will also discuss ways to improve the effectiveness of the Focal Point Forum. 
 
Join the LAKI side-event discussion on how to close adaptation knowledge gaps

On 13 May, the side-event will present the progress of the Lima Adaptation Knowledge Initiative (LAKI) with a focus on the Hindu Kush Himalayan subregion, and discuss the modalities, challenges and opportunities for closing knowledge gaps that hinder adaptation action worldwide.  
 
Take part in the joint side event on ecosystems and adaptation in the context of NAPs

On May 15, the side-event organized with the Least Developed Countries Expert Group (LEG) and members of Friends of Ecosystem-based Adaptation will focus on: building climate resilience of ecosystems; and facilitating the integration of ecosystem-based adaptation approaches in national adaptation plans (NAPs).

Participate in the joint special event of the AC and the LEG
 
On 12 May, the Adaptation Committee (AC) and the LEG will seek feedback from participants on the work on adaptation support they undertook for the conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (CMA).  
Join the technical expert meeting on adaptation

On 16-17 May, share ideas through innovative communication tools, breakout groups and panel discussions on how to integrate climate change adaptation with the Sustainable Development Goals and the Sendai Framework on Disaster Risk Reduction.

Take part in the regional NAP expo in Uganda 
 
On 28 June, the LEG will convene a regional NAP Expo in Uganda, in conjunction with the 11th International Conference on Community-based Adaptation. It will bring together government officials and the civil society to discuss how to best engage all stakeholders in the context of NAPs.

Save-the-date: 32nd meeting of the LEG
 
On 16-18 August, the LEG will hold its 32nd meeting in Haiti. The meeting will review the implementation of the LEG work programme for 2017-2018, including ways to further enhance collaboration with other bodies and workstreams under the UNFCCC.
Participate in Open NAP case studies
 
The LEG is conducting Open NAP case studies with countries and interested organizations to support the work on NAPs, with an initial focus on Bhutan, Madagascar, Malawi, Niger and Tuvalu. NWP partner 
organizations are welcome to share country specific data, assessments and adaptation  solutions.

Share your expertise on vulnerable communities, groups and ecosystems
 
The LEG is currently developing technical material on strengthening consideration of vulnerable communities, groups and ecosystems in NAPs, and on regional approaches to adaptation planning and implementation. NWP partner organizations are welcome to engage.

Participate in the 9th meeting of the Research Dialogue  
 a
On 10 May, the meeting will focus on: regional climate research data and information, and gaps; and on science to take stock and assess progress on mitigation. The meeting will be preceded by a poster session to facilitate a dialogue between experts and country delegates.   
Contribute to the design of the local communities and indigenous peoples' platform
 a
The multi-stakeholder dialogue will take place on 16-17 May to discuss the purpose, content and structure of the platform. The Chair of the SBSTA and a representative of indigenous peoples organizations will co-moderate the dialogue.

Adivasi yuva seva sangh  is a non-governemntal organization that supports tribal empowerment in India, through the promotion of tribal cultural heritage (e.g. art, handicrafts, music, medicines), knowledge and skill sharing for the professional development of tribal youth, as well as natural resources preservation.


Boticario Group Foundation for Nature Protection

The Boticario group foundation has supported more than 1500 initiatives for nature conservation in Brazil since 1990. The Foundation has been promoting nature conservation and ecosystem-based adaptation, including in the elaboration of Brazil's national adaptation plan.

Centre for climate change and research of BRAC university

The Centre carries a wide variety of research in the fields of climate change, including on sea level rise and storm surge modelling, integrated adaptation planning, economics of adaptation, comprehensive disaster management, gender and climate-induced migration

JAGO NARI - fighting for women empowerment 

JAGO NARI is a non-governmental organization that supports disadvantaged and deprived women and children in the urban and rural settings of Bangladesh, through protection, education, healthcare, skills training, socio-economic development and participation in decisions that affect their lives.

MANTA sail training center

MANTA sail training center is Vietnam's first official sailing school. One of its objective is to take Vietnamese fishermen off overfishing into watersports (using their existing ocean skills), so as to provide an alternative source of income and help grow marine stocks.
 

The Mountain Institute   
 a
The Mountain Institute is an international non-governmental organization that addresses the challenges faced by remote mountain communities and the fragile environments that surround them. Its work includes building the climate resilience of remote communities in the Peruvian Andes. 

 
Natural Resources Canada    
 a
At Natural Resources Canada, the Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation Division leads the development of collaborative, national and sectoral science assessments that present the latest knowledge on climate change impacts and adaptation for Canadians. 
 

Network of regional governments for sustainable development  

The Network of regional governments for sustainable development facilitates collaboration between its 51 members, and promotes sustainable policies and actions in subnational territories, with a focus on sustainable development, biodiversity and climate change.  
In line with the SBSTA 44 mandate, those organizations joining the NWP contributed to developing new partnerships with local governments, the private sector, scientific organizations, academia, and organizations representing indigenous and traditional communities.
